students' union

Welcome to the fun part of university life.

Run by UWS students for UWS students, the students’ association (SAUWS) provides a wide range of services including the students unions across the campuses with bars, coffee bars and student shops on campus. SAUWS are also responsible for organising entertainment and events including the Freshers Fair at the start of the trimester, live music and coordinating a variety of clubs and societies.

On a more serious note, SAUWS also provides a collective voice for the UWS student population and is the recognised channel of communication between students and the University. Students can approach SAUWS for help in dealing with issues including accommodation, student finance and welfare.

At Dumfries Campus, CUSA  is the joint campus students’ association, catering for the needs of University of the West of Scotland and University of Glasgow students.

Student Representation within UWS
All degree programmes elect student representatives to ensure that issues that you feel strongly about during your studies are raised with the appropriate people.  It allows the free flow of information from staff to students and back again and is a process whereby the university, academic staff and you, the students, all benefit.

For more information visit the SAUWS website.
